Heart Moms are a distinct group of women. We have heard the words “…. Your baby has a heart defect” and live to tell the tale. We spend countless hours sitting bedside during hospital stays. We are nurses to the most precious of patients, we can dispense medicines better than any pharmacists, we research and find more information than the FBI, we can explain to the manufacturer how their equipment works and we do it all with a smile. However, behind that smile sometimes hides fear, insecurity, unease, isolation. That is the reason for Sunshine State Heart Moms. Set up and run by Florida moms, this nonprofit seeks to help ease the fear and insecurity by empowering parents of children with congenital heart defects through education and support. We love every heart mom from every walk of life. No matter your journey or experience we aim to be a safe haven.
